Wendy Harcourt, Australian born feminist researcher and activist received her PhD in 1987 from the Australian National University and has been living in Italy since 1988 as programme director for the Society for International Development headquartered in Rome. She is Editor of the internationally renowned journal Development published by Palgrave on behalf of the Society for International Development. Wendy has lead many international programmes and published extensively in the area of globalisation, alternative economics, gender and development, reproductive rights and health, culture and communications. She is immediate past chair of WIDE and on the board of People Centred Development Forum, the International Feminist journal of Politics and Trans-dignity. She has edited 6 books including Women@Internet: creating cultures in cyberspace published in 1999. Her latest book Body Politics in Development published by Zed Books in June 2009 won the prestigious FWSA 2010 Book Prize..
